Central Sterile Processing Technician
About The Position
This role involves carrying out department functions, including washing, inspecting, packaging, and sterilizing instruments and equipment. The technician will maintain accurate monitoring records, use and interpret chemical and biological indicators, and perform appropriate cleaning of all sterilization equipment. Responsibilities also include assisting OR personnel in locating and reprocessing instruments, participating in performance improvement activities, and following established policies and procedures. The role requires open communication with internal customers and supervisors, and providing excellent customer service while interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.
Requirements
- Previous surgical instrumentation/equipment decontamination and sterilization with familiarity of various instrument sterilization methods required.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, initiative and ability to take independent action, and be capable of establishing and maintaining outstanding working relationships
- High school diploma or GED required.
- CSP Certification (CRCST or CBSPD Certification).
Nice To Haves
- Previous operating room technician or central supply technician experience (including appropriate certification) preferred.
