About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Central Sterile Processing Spec provides centralized support for terminal sterilization and sterilization monitoring, decontamination and disinfection, preparation of surgical instrument trays, case cart build and distribution, and instrument-to-patient tracking. Work follows AORN, AAMI, CDC, FDA, OSHA, and department policies. In a fast-paced environment, the role includes cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and storing instrumentation and equipment for surgeries, examinations, and clinical procedures according to manufacturers’ instructions and applicable guidelines. The position also prepares and distributes case carts and records OR and clinical procedure instruments and supplies in tracking databases before delivery. Critical thinking is used to address issues and concerns and help maintain patient safety.

The position is based at Dearborn Hospital. It is full time, with an evening schedule of 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., 40 scheduled hours per week, and variable workdays and weekends. Pay starts at $18.61 per hour, with a stated range of $18.61 to $21.90 based on experience. Corewell Health offers eligible new hires a sign-on bonus of up to $1,500.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification is required within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Clean, assemble, sterilize, and store instrumentation and equipment for surgeries, examinations, and clinical procedures in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and applicable guidelines.
• Provide support for terminal sterilization and sterilization monitoring systems.
