About The Position

This is a full-time position with an evening shift, including a rotation for weekends and holidays. The Central Services Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment according to Infection Control practices. This role also involves dispensing requested equipment and supplies via verbal, written, or telephone requisitions, and prioritizing emergency requisitions. The technician may occasionally take charge of Central Service/Linen/Equipment Control.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians.
Must hold and maintain one of the following credentials administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization: certified registered central service technician credential; certified sterile processing and distribution technician credential; or a substantially equivalent credential.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and services.
Manual dexterity.
Must be extremely conscientious with regard to procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Decontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment following Infection Control practices.
Dispense products requested by verbal, written, or telephone requisitions for equipment and supplies.
Identify and assign priority to emergency requisitions.
Take charge of Central Service/Linen/Equipment Control on occasion.
