Works within a team environment scheduling outpatient exams for various hospital services and various Hospitals. Duties include answering phones, scheduling patient appointments for various departments (CT, US, MRI, X-RAY, PET/CT, MAMMO, DEXA, HEART INS. - ECHO, NUCLEAR STRESS TEST, STRESS ECHO, HEART CATH, EP STUDY, etc.), order entry, communicating with patients and healthcare professionals, understanding medical terminology, knowledge of insurances and eligibility, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes, understanding procedure codes, knowledge of lab requirements, patient preps, and prioritizing exams. The role also involves computer skills, maintaining computer security, interacting with physicians and offices, and performing other duties as requested. Quality is demonstrated through reliable, complete, and accurate work, and participation in quality improvement. Quantity is demonstrated through flexibility, multitasking, time utilization, and organization. Safety awareness and adherence to emergency codes are required. Professionalism includes accountability, professional behavior, appearance, respecting patient confidentiality, and attending staff meetings. The employee must attend all mandatory educational programs and understand the importance of customer/patient satisfaction.
