About The Position

Responsible for collecting, processing, and performing testing of patient specimens. This role supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies, performs routine waived, moderately, and high complex testing, and collects, processes, and receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) for analysis in all departments of the clinical laboratory. The position involves evaluating and solving problems related to specimen collection and processing for all age ranges, preparing samples for testing and sending them to reference laboratories, maintaining laboratory equipment, and stocking supplies. Additionally, the role requires performing complex laboratory procedures, recognizing and correcting deviations from expected results using scientific principles under direct supervision per CLIA requirements, analyzing quality control data, and making judgments to maintain accuracy and precision. The assistant will also help troubleshoot and maintain instruments, participate in training programs, and assist in accreditation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or Associates Degree for grandfathered personnel)
  • 1 year in a lab setting preferred.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Intermittent hand manipulation required
  • Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for testing and send out to reference laboratories.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies.
  • Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles under direct supervision per CLIA requirements.
  • Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and instrument maintenance.
  • Participate in training programs.
  • Participate in accreditation activities.

Benefits

  • Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $22.74 - $35.25
