This role supports the Troy Central Processing unit, which is a direct support unit for surgery at a level 2 trauma center. The unit has 20 operating rooms and 6 procedure rooms, handling approximately 45% total joint and ortho cases, with the remaining 55% comprising General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic, Spine, Vascular, and ENT surgeries. Daily, the unit produces 450-750 instrument trays and services operating rooms and ancillary units requiring sterile equipment. They utilize high-temperature steam and low-temperature hydrogen peroxide sterilization processes with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure patient safety. Central Processing operates as a team environment, with technicians, coordinators, and support staff collaborating to provide necessary sterile instrumentation for successful surgeries.
