About The Position

The Central Plant Watch Engineer supervises, monitors, and operates combined heat and power and chilled water systems and connected equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The role monitors and responds to changes in operating conditions to maintain continuous plant performance, performs preventive maintenance duties and routines, and supervises operations personnel.

The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The stated hourly rate is USD $81.473, based on bargaining unit contracts; the rate represents base pay only and excludes additional compensation such as incentives or bonuses.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• Refrigeration License.
• Steam License.
• Ten years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of combined heat and power and chilled water systems, equipment, and proper operating conditions.
• Knowledge of maintenance routines and standards.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of or familiarity with computer applications such as email.
• Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate and work with others to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards.
• Proficient in English, including reading directions and instructions written in English.

Nice To Haves

• Trade school or other post-elementary education.
• Electrical License.
• Knowledge of University and department policies, processes, and quality standards.
