About The Position

JLL is seeking a Central Plant Operations Manager (M1) to join their team on a telecommunications client account within the Technology vertical. This is a managerial position providing technical and managerial oversight and leadership for assigned facilities and their associated systems and infrastructure. The role involves overseeing two lead operating engineers and serving as the primary point of contact between the Supplier team and the Corporate Real Estate organization for all technical and emergency issues. The position requires supervision, oversight, and assessment of all operations, ensuring compliance with processes, procedures, regulations, and client requirements. The manager will direct the maintenance team in the repair and maintenance of building infrastructure systems, excluding major OEM tear-down maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in central plant operations, 3rd party hard services IFM delivery, or critical building systems management.
  • Subject matter expert and technical knowledge and understanding of critical environments, including Data Centers, HVAC, Standby emergency power, uninterruptable power supplies, computer room air conditioning, and associated infrastructure.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and E-Mail.
  • Ability to think strategically and successfully articulate and sell an effective vision for best in class performance of critical facilities.
  • Ability to solve technical problems and deal with a variety of options in varying situations.
  • Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) relative to property management for the account with direct reports as reflected on the account organization chart.
  • Ensure that all work management processes, programs and requirements are well understood throughout the account’s facilities and engineering operations/services teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of energy management and sustainability programs, process, procedure, and metrics.
  • Requires extensive knowledge and application of: Computerized Maintenance and Management Systems (CMMS), Building Automation Systems (BMS), Building Controls DDC and pneumatic.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on general topics to an internal department, large group of employees, clients, and/or management.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired 10 years (+) experience in facilities operations, maintenance, and engineering management and supervision.
  • Desired bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering or equivalent experience in technical leadership, directing and managing facilities operations, maintenance, and design.
  • Desired: SMA, FMA, RPA, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of central plant equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and building automation systems to ensure continuous and efficient service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of plant operators and technicians, including scheduling, training, performance management, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Monitor system performance metrics, analyze operational data, and implement optimization strategies to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Coordinate and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including environmental, safety, and building codes, maintaining required certifications and permits.
  • Respond to emergency situations and system failures with immediate action, troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with client representatives, facility management teams, and JLL leadership to align operations with service level agreements and client expectations.
  • Manage client contracts for the delivery of services provided by other vendors.
