About The Position

Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres, operating as a medical rehabilitation and behavioral healthcare facility for over 80 years. It provides complex medical and brain and spinal cord injury rehab for ages 13 years and older, and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The facility offers integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents, and adults facing difficult challenges, and is internationally known for improving quality of life through innovative approaches to neurobehavioral healthcare. The Central Nursing Supervisor will provide direct patient care, medical management, and assessment, ensuring environmental safety and crisis management. This role involves directing behavior management programs, making patient and task assignments, monitoring subordinate performance, and providing training and education to staff, patients, families, and others. The supervisor is also responsible for accurate patient care documentation and collaborating with the treatment team to maintain a therapeutic milieu.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients
  • Knowledge of milieu management
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse License
  • Current CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • RN,C; CRRN preferred
  • One year of inpatient medical surgery, rehabilitation, or psychiatric experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team
  • Provide medical management and assessment of patients
  • Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population
  • Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through
  • Make patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitor their performance of duties
  • Provide training & education to staff, patients, families, & others
  • Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates
  • Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu
