About The Position

The Control Room Operator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the automated sorter and conveyors, in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role involves verifying daily sort plan configurations, communicating hourly volume levels, and monitoring overall sorter induction status using the BeSSVIEW software system. The operator will perform virtual sorter maintenance by verifying and acknowledging faults on the BeOS sortation system, and maintain communication with automation technicians, coordinating downtimes for repairs with management. Ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of the sorter includes performing pre-sort checks, daily priming of conveyors, monitoring and controlling sorter operations, troubleshooting, and clearing errors. The operator will also monitor the camera system for jams and problem areas, communicate this information to managers and technicians, and receive communication from receivers and management regarding new trailer arrivals, documenting and tracking this information on a control log. The role requires completing all required paperwork, records, and documentation, and ensuring compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations, as well as maintaining housekeeping standards. Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or revised by DHL.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent training and/or one (1) year transportation or warehouse experience preferred required skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Understand and carry out oral instructions; read, understand and carry out written instructions, work orders, receiving, Bills of Lading (BOLs), graphs, logs or schedules; verify zip code numbers
  • Count, perform addition and subtraction
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Train other workers
  • Work with a minimum amount of supervision, under pressure, rapidly for long periods and on several tasks at the same time

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the sorter by performing all pre-sort checks and daily priming of the conveyors, monitoring and controlling all sorter operations, troubleshooting, and clearing errors.
  • Monitor camera system for jams and problem areas, communicate information to managers and technicians.
  • Receive communication from receivers and management when new trailers arrive, document on control log and track.
  • Complete all required paperwork, records, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the maintenance of all housekeeping standards.
