About The Position

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Central Characterization Program (CCP) Certification Manager and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of the WIPP Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP) Attachment C - Waste Analysis Plan (WAP), the WIPP Land Withdrawal Act (LWA), Transuranic Waste Authorized Methods for Payload Control (TRAMPAC), the WIPP Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), the Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) Quality Assurance Program Document (QAPD), the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) and associated Department of Energy (DOE) Orders.
  • Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of professional experience, or Associate’s degree with nine (9) years of professional experience, or High School Diploma or Equivalency with thirteen (13) years of professional experience is required.
  • Experience/Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain a Q-Clearance.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).

Responsibilities

  • Managing, leading, and developing Site Project Managers (SPMs), Waste Certification Officials (WCOs), and the Waste Certification Assistants (WCAs).
  • Interfacing, coordinating, and working with regulatory agencies including DOE, New Mexico Environment Department (NMED), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as well as various DOE Contractors around the United States.
