About The Position

Busch’s is hiring a Center Store Manager to join their family-owned Michigan team. This is a full-time position with a starting wage of up to $21.60/hr. with experience. The role involves managing grocery orders, backroom inventory, display planning, and scheduling for center store associates. The manager will also be responsible for price changes, stocking, product rotation, associate reviews, hiring, training, and development. Additionally, the position requires planning for department resets and physical inventories, managing stocking efficiencies, shelf maintenance, and assisting guests with product recommendations and special orders. The managerial accountabilities include exemplifying hospitality, providing leadership, contributing to organizational effectiveness, communicating with other departments, adhering to company policies, maintaining professional knowledge, and building strong working relationships.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, Bachelor degree preferred
  • 3 years experience working in a grocery department
  • Previous management experience desired
  • Certification for Hi Lo / Powered Pallet Jack (in order to teach subordinates)
  • Proficient merchandising skills, including the ability to plan and execute center store displays designed to drive profit, create interest, perceived value and suggest meal solutions
  • Able to forecast product demand and place orders to meet demand
  • Proficient management and leadership skills
  • Proficient organization and planning skills, especially to manage multiple deadlines and projects
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and listening skills
  • Proficient computer skills in excel, word and email
  • Able to learn and use a variety of proprietary applications and technology
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

Responsibilities

  • Placing all grocery orders
  • Following backroom inventory procedures
  • Achieving department sales and financial objectives
  • All display planning
  • Writing weekly schedules for all center store associates
  • Ensuring timely completion of all price changes, tag maintenance and new and discontinued item procedures
  • Ensuring all products are stocked according to the plan-o-gram
  • Product rotation to minimize out of date product
  • Completing and administering reviews for center store associates
  • Interviewing, hiring, training and developing center store associates
  • Planning for and assisting with resets of department and physical inventories (3 times yearly)
  • Managing stocking efficiencies, shelf maintenance/cleaning, backroom conditions and floor maintenance standards
  • Assisting guests with product recommendations and locations, product requests and special orders
  • Exemplifying key concepts of hospitality when interacting with guests
  • Providing solid leadership and guidance to direct reports
  • Contributing to organizational effectiveness by offering information, suggestions and recommendations
  • Communicating and working with other functional areas of Busch’s operations
  • Adhering to all Busch’s policies, practices and procedures
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by completing educational opportunities, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking state of the art practices and networking
  • Building strong working relationships with guests, vendors and associates
