About The Position

The Center Operations Support Partner plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment for children, families, and staff. This position ensures the center is well-maintained through custodial and maintenance duties while also providing operational and classroom support as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment.
  • Flexibility to shift between custodial, classroom, and operational support tasks throughout the day.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with staff, children, and families.
  • Ability to lift, move, or carry items up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and staff.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop.
  • Must be able to walk extended periods throughout the day monitoring.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color, peripheral depth and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior custodial, maintenance, or early childhood center experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a team environment and supporting diverse staff and families is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily custodial duties, including cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment.
  • Ensure safe and proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, and notify supervisor of needed materials or repairs.
  • Conduct regular playground sweeps and safety checks, ensuring the area is free from hazards and safe for children’s use.
  • Provide classroom support when needed, assisting with supervision, transitions, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Cover staff lunch breaks or other short-term absences to maintain classroom ratios and ensure uninterrupted care and supervision.
  • Support teachers and staff during arrival and dismissal routines, meal times, and center events as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance or custodial requests to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture, equipment, and materials for classrooms or events.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures in accordance with state licensing, Head Start, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with staff, families, and children.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support center operations and the overall mission of the organization.
  • Flexible to travel to other centers to assist when needed.
