About The Position

Under supervision, the CENA provides basic nursing assistance and helps residents with daily living activities. The role also provides and documents restorative services, contributes to selected residents’ plans of care at interdisciplinary meetings as needed, and reports progress toward restorative goals to the Charge Nurse or designee.

Requirements

Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months of experience in a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Answer signal lights and bells to determine resident needs.
Assist residents with grooming, oral hygiene, bathing, hair care, and incontinence care.
Obtain food trays and assist residents with feeding.
Assist residents with range-of-motion exercises and movement to wheelchairs or activity areas.
Assist residents with turning and positioning in bed.
Assist residents with ambulation for short distances within the facility.
Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, as well as food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
Complete documentation on flow sheets as directed.
Attend interdisciplinary meetings as needed to provide input into selected residents’ plans of care.
Document restorative services provided according to facility policies and procedures.
Report progress or lack of progress toward restorative goals to the Charge Nurse or designee.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
