CEMS Technician, Sweeny Refinery
About The Position
As a CEMS Technician at the Sweeny Refinery, you will play a key role in maintaining environmental analyzer systems and associated equipment to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations. This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
- Possess a valid in-state driver’s license.
- Associate’s degree in Instrument Technology, Analytical Technology, or a related degree.
- Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material daily.
- Work at various heights up to 200 feet.
- Listen and follow instructions.
- Communicate orally and in writing with team members, leaders, and operations/environmental personnel.
- Use a variety of safety and personal protective equipment.
- Work overtime and/or respond to callouts based on operational performance and business need.
Nice To Haves
- Strong work ethic.
- 5 or more years of analytical or analyzer experience.
- Refinery experience in instrumentation or analytical work.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SAP.
- Experience calibrating and troubleshooting gas chromatographs, including Maxum, Emerson, or Yokogawa GC8000.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting sample conditioning systems.
- Experience with CEMS and opacity monitoring.
- Experience with basic networking and Modbus communication.
Responsibilities
- Perform calibrations, programming, and repairs on environmental analyzers and associated equipment.
- Perform daily rounds on shelters and CEMS systems, including changing calibration and carrier gas cylinders.
- Maintain CEMS analyzers with greater than 95% availability each quarter.
- Communicate with operations and environmental personnel regarding CEMS-related questions and issues.
- Maintain up-to-date maintenance logs on each CEMS system.
- Complete 7-day drift tests, CGAs, and other environmentally regulated preventive maintenance tasks.
- Maintain and order spare parts and calibration gas inventory.
- Modify existing and create new preventive maintenance tasks for analyzers.
- Work with the Analytical Engineer to improve or upgrade analytical equipment for better reliability and performance.
- Serve as a technical SME to assist analyzer technicians as needed.
