About The Position

The Cemetery Services Specialist participates in cemetery interment and memorial operations, including opening and closing graves and niches for burials, entombments, inurnments, and disinterments. The role also installs memorials and markers and performs grounds and facilities maintenance. The specialist responds to service requests and work orders from client families, maintains grave and marker areas, and helps ensure cemetery grounds and work areas are clean, neat, and safe.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• At least six months of experience operating standard equipment.
• Acceptable driving record and applicable license(s) to operate equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including a shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, and pump.
• Ability to operate mechanical equipment, including a dump truck, tractor, utility vehicle, marker trailer, dump trailer, jack hammer, tamper, and backhoe.
• Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as a tape measure or yardstick.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow associates, contractor personnel, and client families.
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work in various adverse weather conditions.
• Understanding of safety and security issues and implications.
• Mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform openings and closings for burials, entombments, and inurnments.
• Set, install, and assemble foundations, memorials, and markers.
• Install outer burial containers.
• Handle and complete work orders from client families concerning individual grave and marker maintenance.
• Respond to and complete requests for service and work orders.
• Conduct Interment Verification Procedures.
• Prepare the 25-foot radius for burials and ensure the area is clean and neat.
• Fill graves, tamp soil, and seed or lay sod.
• Follow Company safety rules and Universal Precautions.
• Maintain and protect Company assets through regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Complete Dignity University courses and other assigned training.
• Adhere to all standards of the Dignity Memorial Promise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
