About The Position

As a working supervisor at a single property, ensure daily work is scheduled and completed on time complying with environmental and safety regulations. Performs a variety of Cemetery Maintenance work including operating machinery and manual labor. Train team on processes, procedures, equipment, and machinery providing constructive feedback. Build a trusting and reliable team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least five (5) years cemetery maintenance experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Environment regulations as applicable to industry
  • Demonstrate knowledge of wild life regulations as applicable to industry
  • Demonstrate knowledge of staff and public safety regulations as applicable to industry
  • Clear verbal communication skills
  • Planning skills

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience a plus
  • New Construction / developmental experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervises cemetery maintenance and grounds keeping daily workload.
  • Develop work schedule, set deadlines, and delegate assignments.
  • Ensure cemetery services exceed customer expectations.
  • Establish and communicate work, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Coordinate staff work and time-off schedules ensuring appropriate coverage and minimizing overtime; approve timecards.
  • Manage grounds keeping, landscaping, and seasonal plantings presenting a welcoming and manicured appearance of properties.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and wild life regulations.
  • Trains staff on cemetery maintenance and grounds keeping procedures, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrates proper operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Recommends procedure revisions.
  • Order, store, and maintain sufficient inventory of tools, materials, equipment and lawn treatment.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and resolve issues.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working order.
  • Recommends and implements efficiencies.
  • Supports change initiatives.
  • Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team.
  • Understand team members career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and close gaps.
  • Constructively address issues and provide timely appropriate feedback.
  • Provide performance assessment input to management.
  • Apply a proactive and collaborative communication style.
