About The Position

Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker to work in Lakewood, Washington. The role is responsible for the appearance and upkeep of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations. Duties include groundskeeping and facility maintenance; locating gravesites; digging graves; installing crypt faces, memorials, and monuments; conducting interments, entombments, and inurnments; and completing repairs and other maintenance tasks. Position assignment within the job family is based on demonstrated competence in the skills required for the next level. The Cemetery Caretaker also supports funeral and cemetery services and interacts with clients and families, sometimes while resolving customer service requests. Requirements

Valid driver's license.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience in groundskeeping and/or maintenance.
Professional speech and appearance for client interactions.

Responsibilities

Locate and mark interment sites.
Remove and replace memorials or crypt/niche fronts.
Open gravesites using machinery and hand digging.
Set up service sites with lowering devices, tents, and chairs.
Close gravesites using machinery and hand digging.
Install memorials.
Resolve customer service requests in a timely manner, sometimes with family present.
Cut grass; maintain lawns; and trim around trees, walkways, and memorial markers.
Lay sod.
Move flowers to and from the chapel and graveside, and remove flowers as needed.
Blow leaves and grass.
Edge using a stick edger.
Clear debris and maintain drives and walkways in safe condition.
Clean ponds and fountains.
Hand dig and trench.
Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.
Clean and maintain facilities and perform minor repairs and painting.
Assist with loading and unloading caskets.
Wash and clean vehicles and golf carts.
