About The Position

The Cement Terminal Operator is responsible for performing all material handling duties on railcars and tankers, performing housekeeping and maintenance on the equipment and facilities, performing work in compliance with all safety and environmental requirements, and working to ensure customers (and suppliers) are satisfied with the product and service. This role requires understanding and adhering to all expectations for performance, including facility policies, procedures, regulations, and production output requirements. The operator must be available to work a variety of shifts and schedules and perform daily activities such as start-up, during-shift tasks, and shutdown. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining safety awareness, including consistent use of PPE, safe task performance, ensuring others work safely, and promptly addressing spills and safety issues. The operator will safely operate and maintain various equipment including Forklift, Trackmobile, Loader, and Sweeper (certification required), tanker loading equipment, railcar unloading equipment, material conveyance equipment, dust control equipment, and facilities infrastructure. Responsibilities also include scheduling railcars, communicating operational issues, ensuring compliance with 5S systems, and maintaining Kanban levels. Accurate and timely completion of documentation, including using SAP for logging railcars, recording inventory, and releasing railcars, is essential. The role also requires effective communication with Argos/Summit and timely resolution of discrepancies. Being an effective team member involves setting a positive example, fulfilling responsibilities on time, resolving customer issues positively, assisting with other duties as assigned, keeping commitments, communicating effectively with customers and suppliers, and fostering teamwork.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate in English.
  • Valid NC Driver License with a clean record.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Able to operate various automated equipment, adjust and perform maintenance.
  • Work independently and diligently with minimal directions.
  • Communicate well with team members and supervisors.
  • Apply troubleshooting skills to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team.

  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and access all rail equipment.

  • Certification on various equipment is a job requirement.

  • Schedule railcars with the trainmaster.
  • Communicate any operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance to 5S systems in all work areas.
  • Maintain Kanban levels in storage areas.
  • Complete all documentation and reports accurately and timely.
  • Use SAP to log railcars, record inventory, and release railcars.
  • Communicate effectively with Argos/Summit.
  • Resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Set a positive example as a team member.
