About The Position

This role is an important part of our winemaking operations, supporting the safe, efficient and high-quality processing of wine and beverage products from the cellar through to bottling. As a Cellar Person, you will work closely with our Winemaking and Cellar teams to carry out day-to-day cellar operations. You’ll operate processing equipment, move wine and juice between tanks, complete cleaning and sanitation, make product additions and monitor processing conditions to ensure our products meet quality and production requirements. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with equipment, solving problems and being part of a team. You’ll have the opportunity to build your knowledge of winemaking and beverage production while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Mechanical aptitude and an interest in working with equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures accurately.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy production environment.
  • A strong team mindset and willingness to work collaboratively.
  • A commitment to safe work practices and maintaining high-quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous wine, beverage or food manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Forklift experience or certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cellar and processing equipment used to ferment, process, clarify and filter juice, wine and spirits.
  • Transfer juice and wine using a variety of pumps, hoses and processing equipment.
  • Make material additions to juice and wine according to established procedures.
  • Monitor gauges, video monitors and processing conditions, making adjustments to flow rates, temperatures and ingredient inputs as required.
  • Follow work instructions and written procedures to ensure products are processed safely and efficiently.
  • Complete cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ensure wine and spirits are prepared and transferred to Bottling in a timely manner.
  • Support bulk receiving activities in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Operate equipment and identify maintenance issues, generating maintenance work orders when repairs are required.
  • Count and record inventory of materials, wine and spirits as requested.
  • Identify and report upset conditions, process deviations or other concerns to the Cellar Manager and Winemaker.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and immediately report hazards or unsafe working conditions.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Support Harvest operations and perform Harvest Lead Hand responsibilities for approximately three months during grape harvest season.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and take on other duties as required to support business needs.
