Cell Therapy Analytical Development Intern

Bristol Myers Squibb•Seattle, WA
•$24 - $45

About The Position

The intern will support development of cell-based bioassays within Bristol Myers Squibb’s Cell Therapy Analytical Development Team. The role contributes to assays at different stages of maturity, from early development and proof-of-concept studies through phase-appropriate validation and transfer. It provides hands-on laboratory experience in assay development, data analysis, and scientific documentation. The intern will collaborate with scientists to help deliver robust, fit-for-purpose assays that meet regulatory expectations. The position is open to students currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with mammalian cell culture, ELISA, Western blot, and PCR.
  • Understanding of gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Available to work during the internship period of June 7 through August 13, 2027.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment, without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and optimization of cell-based bioassays, including early feasibility and proof-of-concept studies for gene-edited programs.
  • Perform laboratory experiments, including cell culture, molecular biology and cell-based assay techniques, sample preparation, assay execution, and data collection.
  • Evaluate assay parameters such as accuracy, precision, linearity, range, and robustness to assess assay performance and fitness for purpose.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, applying statistical tools to support assay design decisions and conclusions.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in electronic laboratory notebooks; assist with drafting protocols, reports, and technical summaries as applicable.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot assay performance issues.
  • Present findings and progress in team meetings, including a final summer project presentation.
  • Maintain laboratory safety and comply with standard operating procedures and good documentation practices.

Benefits
