Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties as listed on the Operator instructions, as well as perform all functions within their respective work cell.
  • Communicate with outgoing Cell Leader regarding any issues or changes (where applicable)
  • Ensure that prior to the arrival of the cell team an inspection of the cell is made and that the previous cell leader has addressed the discrepancies found.
  • Conduct T1 meetings – ensure discussion of T1 sheet in addition to any/all Alerts received (where applicable)
  • Assign employees to their workstations.
  • Provide the cell with packaging materials, documentation, forms, pens, cutters, safety equipment and any other required items received from supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the cell.
  • Ensure that all standard work instructions are posted (where applicable) and being followed correctly
  • Take aggressive measures towards housekeeping. Promote working tidy and organized without creating additional clean up that would adversely affect efficiencies.
  • Ensure the safety of all cell members. Report unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor and insist on full compliance to safety in the workplace.
  • At the completion of the shift, ensure that the cell is ready for immediate occupancy by the next team and full productivity can begin without reduction in efficiency or quality.
  • Ensure that disposition of all items and product within the cell is addressed. Example; partial box of product, materials on hold, etc.
  • Ensure labels are in their correct location at the Workstation.
  • Ensure that the bins are labeled properly.
  • Cover and/or assign relief operators with in the cell for breaks and lunches as required.
  • Communicate relevant information to incoming cell leader (where applicable)
  • Input detailed work orders for automation and tool room for any issues affecting production (where applicable)
  • Ensure all quality procedures are being followed properly including: labeling and quantity checks
  • Ensure operators are following standard work, inspection
  • Perform red rabbits prior to commencement of job and whenever prompted
  • Take appropriate action when a Quality Alert is received, including issuing any required DMR’s
  • Contain all product from non-certified operators as per the versatility chart
  • Ensure all New Launch and Issue containment requirements are communicated to containment operators
  • Promote the efficiency improvement while maintaining the quality levels expected.
  • Accurately track labor hours and report to supervisor daily (where applicable)
  • Foster and promote continuous improvement efforts and ensure communication and follow up to the next management level.
  • Facilitate an open and honest communication network with Supervisors, PE’s, and Cell Team, as well as other employees.
  • Promote pride of workmanship, urgency, consistency, punctuality and a positive team approach through leadership by example.
  • Prior to a program change, specific duties and responsibilities should be communicated to each member of the cell team to ensure the smooth transition as programs occur (Set-up tech, Material Handler)
  • Ensure Plex, Poke Yoke and the workstation is all properly set up and ready to go prior to completion of changeover
  • Monitor production to schedule and make the necessary adjustments to achieve desired quantity. If schedule cannot be achieved notify the supervisor of the problem.
  • Train Operators as directed by the Supervisor, ensure said training is recorded on Versatility chart
  • Complete first aid training and administer first aid when needed (where applicable)
  • Complete Emergency Response training and aid management in the event of evacuation
  • Attend additional meetings and training sessions as required
  • Conduct WIP counts according to provided schedule and communicate results (where applicable)
  • Ensure 4D Board is updated daily including: (where applicable) Scrap % calculation and tracking, Completing wellness sheets, Updating versatility charts (weekly)
  • Understand and perform the following procedures: (where applicable) Error Skid Inspection, Repack, Live Freight, Parts Dropped in shipping
