About The Position

Reporting to the Value Stream Supervisor, the Cell Lead will be responsible for the management of his or her manufacturing cell(s), ensuring that the production schedule is followed, and confirming that key objectives are achieved, while continually improving performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.
  • Two to four years of experience within a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Mapping, Kaizen events, 5S, Kanban (Material Replenishment System), Cellular Manufacturing and JIT systems.
  • Knowledge/experience of world class manufacturing and Lean techniques.
  • Previous team or group leader experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate’s degree in related field.
  • Hazardous Waste Handler Awareness and satellite accumulation (including but not limited to) caps, labelling, dating.
  • Periodically removing satellite waste containers and deliver to less than central accumulation area.
  • Annual RCRA Training including Emergency Coordinator (secondary) refresher, Contingency Plan training, RCR hazardous waste training.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by ensuring the workplace is consistent with 5S and Crane health and safety policy (filling out all charts and records).
  • Ensure product quality process, ISO procedures, labor reporting, inventory transactions, production auditing, safety, adherences to procedures/blueprints/specifications, adequate training, and maintain proper tools.
  • Drive improved product quality through data capture, analysis, and effective corrective action.
  • Responsible for the training of new employees and continued development training of experienced employees.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts while leading projects for continuous improvement (OpEx and Kaizen events).
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Cell aimed towards reducing manufacturing costs while improving product quality.
  • Ensure the cell has sufficient capacity to achieve established targets and planned requirements.
  • Perform direct labor as needed (i.e., running a machine, inspection, testing, etc…)
  • Maximize stock accuracy by ensuring correct and timely inventory transactions, as well as regular cycle counts (this includes production supplies).
  • Ensure all manufacturing documentation including product parts list information and build instructions are accurate and complete.
  • Lead the cell by setting individual goals/objectives, allocation and monitoring of workload, resolve minor performance issues/conflicts, lead daily meetings with each shift, and follow the schedule as posted by the production coordinator.
  • Communicate effectively with department employees, management, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Work closely with the Production Coordinator to discuss any issues/concerns that may affect the schedule.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to perform routine equipment TPM/PM’s.
  • Fill out, maintain, and present SQDC/KPI boards to senior leadership team.
