About The Position

The CDS Intake Specialist serves as the first point of contact for network providers, physicians, and members. This role is responsible for processing incoming prior-authorization requests via phone, fax, and web, ensuring exceptional service for both internal and external customers. The Intake Specialist will utilize both inbound and outbound communication methods, including phone calls and written correspondence, to respond to and resolve inquiries and issues from network providers, imaging centers/facilities, members, and referring providers. Additionally, the specialist will handle inbound calls for follow-up on existing authorization requests that are either in process or have been processed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 0 or more years of applicable work experience
  • Remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process authorization request intake via phone, fax, and/or web.
  • Collect and transfer non-clinical data.
  • Acquire structured clinical data.
  • Review authorization request for completeness of information.
  • Verify eligibility.
  • Verify physician and rendering facility participation.
  • Initiate an online authorization based on information received.
  • Submit cases for second level review if medical necessity cannot be established.
  • Provide customer service to callers following up on existing authorization requests.
  • Perform functions according to client program design.
  • Perform other duties/functions as directed by Supervisor.
