CDL Truck Driver -- FLEX
About The Position
The CDL Truck Driver performs tasks related to shipping and receiving operations. This role involves operating company-owned and leased trucks over 4 tons, primarily for trailer moves within the yard, rather than long-distance driving. The position requires performing pre-trip and post-trip maintenance, providing excellent customer service during pickup and delivery operations, and operating material handling equipment. Maintaining required certifications, DOT and OSHA regulations, and company safety programs is crucial. The driver must also maintain company property, exhibit professionalism, and perform other assigned tasks to support team operations.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
- Hazmat/tanker endorsement
- Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment
- Ability to safely drive various vehicles
- Ability to establish and effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
- Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must have at least 2 years recent driving experience with a Class A CDL
- Must have minimal infractions on a 3 year MVR report
- Must have a current Class A CDL and DOT card
- Must be able to pass a road test administered by the company
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, one (1) year relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, including protocols, standard operating procedures, customer orders, and pick tickets.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Nice To Haves
- Yard dog/tractor experience preferred
- Possess or have ability to become forklift certified
Responsibilities
- Operate company owned and leased trucks over 4 tons to facilitate shipping and receiving operations
- Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of customer products and materials
- Focus on trailer moves in the yard, no miles driven
- Perform required before, during and after operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
- Operate material handling equipment
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
- Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
- Maintain a level of professionalism at all times
