About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a CDL Driver Trainee in Juneau, AK. This is an opportunity for individuals with a great attitude and a clean driving record to get paid $25.00 per hour while training to earn their Class B CDL with an air brakes endorsement. Upon completion of the training, trainees will transition into a full-time Local Driver role at $27.00 per hour. The training process, including classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and road testing, can be completed in as little as 3 weeks, or within a few months. As a CDL Driver, responsibilities include safely operating a garbage truck on local routes, collecting solid waste and recyclables, performing daily vehicle inspections, and providing professional customer service.

Requirements

• A valid Class D license and ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of start date
• A clean driving record
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication + basic reading/writing skills (English required)
• 1+ year of general work experience

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Related experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck safely on local routes

• Follow route sheets and work independently
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
