About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a CDL B Side Load Truck Driver. Safety is our first priority. This position involves operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material. Drivers will transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility and may make multiple trips during the shift. We utilize both manual and automatic trucks. The role may require repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds, moving and maneuvering up to 100 pounds, and mounting/dismounting the truck multiple times per route. Routes may involve navigating congested communities and tight city areas, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers. Drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts. Pre and post-trip inspections are required, and drivers are responsible for ensuring their truck complies with IWS safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.

Requirements

  • 18 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transporting material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility.
  • Making one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Performing highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
  • Performing driver pre and post-trip inspections.
  • Ensuring the truck is in compliance with IWS’s safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws prior to and while operating the vehicle.
