About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced Commercial Rear Load Garbage Truck Drivers. This role requires a Class A or B CDL with at least 1 year of driving experience. The driver will be responsible for safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for waste and recycling pick-up, transporting materials to disposal or recycling facilities. The position may also require operating a Fork Truck/Crane Truck as needed. Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions & make legible entries on reports & records.
  • Ability to Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work
  • Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver or Helper for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations

Responsibilities

  • Safely operating front, side, or rear-loading trucks for the pick-up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transporting material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility, and may make one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Operating a Fork Truck/Crane Truck as needed.
  • Performing driver pre and post inspections to ensure truck compliance with safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
  • Navigating through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck cab multiple times per route.
  • Mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times every route.
