About The Position

Ozinga Indiana Ready Mix Concrete Inc is seeking a Ready Mix Truck Driver responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of concrete and other related products to customers in both rural and urban environments in all weather conditions. This position is at the Medium Physical Demand level and requires frequent climbing in and out of the truck, frequent ascending and descending of ladders/stairs. The role involves performing thorough DOT Pre and Post trip inspections, understanding delivery tickets, lifting and carrying items like calcium chloride, fibers, color dye, and expansion joint, driving to job sites, unloading concrete, and returning to the yard. Drivers will also walk, climb, and stand on uneven job sites, lift and attach chute extensions, communicate effectively with customers and dispatch, and maintain the truck's cleanliness. Other duties may include shoveling, sweeping, or cleaning. A strong ability to read and speak English is required for communication, understanding signs, and completing reports.

Requirements

  • Possess either a Class A or a Class B CDL with airbrakes endorsement.
  • Maintain a current medical certificate.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries and to make entries on reports and records required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough DOT Pre and Post trip Inspections, including raising and lowering the hood.
  • Carefully read and understand the Delivery Ticket to ensure the correct product is delivered to the right location.
  • Lift, carry, and load extra items for delivery to the customer, such as heavy bags of calcium chloride, fibers, color dye, and bundles of expansion joint.
  • Drive to the customer's job site, unload the concrete, and drive back to the yard several times a day, using both manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Walk, climb, and stand on uneven, muddy, or frozen job sites in both daylight and after dark.
  • Lift, carry, and attach large metal chute extensions to the truck, often on difficult terrain.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and Dispatch while representing the company in a professional manner.
  • Keep the truck in a clean condition, including washing out the drum after loading and unloading the concrete.
  • Perform other work as assigned by management, including shoveling, sweeping, or cleaning.
  • Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
