Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program; or Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) and Manual (E) Restriction removed.
  • Ability to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
  • Possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two additional pieces of construction equipment, within the probationary period.
  • This position requires an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during the probationary period.
  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
  • Employee may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • You must pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery needed for highway and bridge tasks
  • Maintain required CDL credentials and complete daily pre and post inspection checks
  • Provide flagger duties to control traffic flow when equipment is not in use
  • Use a variety of hand tools and motorized tools to complete tasks such as clearing brush, cleaning culverts, and repairing barriers
  • Perform minor repairs, field adjustments, and preventative care on assigned equipment
  • Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and help maintain a safe work environment for all
