PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee (Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee)

Requirements
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work
- Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work
- Demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission
- Able to perform essential job functions
Responsibilities
- Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned machinery to support highway and bridge maintenance work
- Clear snow and ice from roads and bridges during winter operations using plow attachments and related equipment
- Perform flagger duties to guide traffic safely when equipment is in use or work zones are active
- Use hand tools and power tools to complete tasks such as cutting brush, cleaning culverts, repairing signs, and maintaining barriers
- Make field adjustments, complete minor repairs, and clean and service equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Follow all safety procedures, use protective equipment, report hazards, and help maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others
