CDL Instructor - Class A

160 Driving Academy•Paradise, NV
•$28 - $30•Onsite

About The Position

160 Driving Academy is hiring an experienced Class A driver to teach students the skills needed to pass their CDL exams. The instructor provides hands-on training in outdoor yards and on the road, covering pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and driving with both automatic and manual transmissions. The role is based at a designated yard and involves working with other instructors and a Lead Instructor, with occasional coverage at nearby regional yards. The position also includes tracking student attendance and progress, maintaining accurate training records and evaluations, reporting incidents and accidents promptly, following the defined curriculum, and helping keep the yard and building clean and presentable. Instructors may assist with transferring trucks to repair operations or neighboring yards. The role has a 90-day probationary period focused on safety, compliance, and curriculum adherence. Most yards operate Monday through Friday, either 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Some higher-volume yards operate seven days a week with ten-hour shifts and may offer alternative schedules, including some four-day work weeks. Occasional regional coverage may require an overnight hotel stay; per diem is paid, and mileage is reimbursed when using a personal vehicle. Reliable, on-time attendance is essential. Compensation includes opportunities for annual merit increases based on business performance, a monthly shared bonus pool tied to yard first-time pass rates and student ratings, and an accident-free bonus for top-performing yards. Additional paid hours may be available for placement fairs and truck care during scheduled downtime.
