About The Position

Roadmaster Drivers School, a subdivision of Werner Enterprises, Inc., is seeking experienced and highly qualified CDL Class A drivers to train the next generation of commercial truck drivers. This role involves mentoring students, teaching safety skills, and best practices of the trucking industry. Roadmaster Drivers School is a nationally accredited educational institution providing professional training with a focus on professionalism, pride in work, and safety first.

Requirements

  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with no more than two moving violations in a 12-month period, and/or no more than three moving violations in a 24-month period. Driving records not complying with the foregoing will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • A minimum of 3 years over the road or local commercial driving experience, and/or minimum criteria required to obtain instructor licensure within the applicable jurisdiction and meet all other licensure requirements.
  • Must pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical which is issued in accordance with all regulations and recommendations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
  • Pass an approved DOT drug test and hair follicle drug test (HFT) and agree to random and suspicion-based drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with others using verbal and non-verbal/written skills.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the physical, intellectual and leadership ability to deliver the company’s approved training and curriculum to students in the areas of classroom, full pre-trip inspection, basic control skills and road driving.
  • Must successfully complete all required new hire onboarding and training in a timely manner, as well as continuing education as required by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate assigned driving operations for students on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the safe operation and use of equipment when being used by students, ensuring that the company policy and standards are being adhered to.
  • Supervise all assigned trainees and complete the necessary documentation for each person, such as student attendance forms and training records.
  • Provide in-person daily instruction to students in the following areas: Full Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Control Skills and Road Driving.
