About The Position
This role involves operating a commercial vehicle with a hazardous materials endorsement, focusing on safe and timely delivery and pick-up of goods. The position requires strict adherence to DOT regulations, meticulous documentation, and basic vehicle maintenance. The driver will also assist with facility operations, including stocking, order staging, and loading, and may be required to perform emergency roadside repairs. The working environment includes shop, yard, traffic, and customer locations, with potential exposure to various weather conditions, chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
Requirements
- Valid CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
- Knowledge of current DOT regulations.
- Ability to complete DOT and company-required documentation accurately.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
- Ability to perform pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc equipment inspections.
- Ability to perform weekly inspections on non-DOT assigned trucks and trailers.
- Ability to assist with stocking shelves, pulling, staging, and loading customer orders.
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Ability to perform emergency roadside repairs.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety and operations checklists for each trailer type before each haul.
- Complete DOT and company-required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide timely delivery and pick-up to and from designated customer locations.
- Inspect equipment for damage and/or excessive wear during pick-up and note accordingly.
- Comply with current DOT regulations, including timely qualification renewals, equipment, and cargo security inspections.
- Obtain customer signatures for proper invoicing and documentation.
- Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc equipment inspections as required by FMCSR.
- Perform weekly inspections on all non-DOT assigned trucks and trailers.
- Assist with stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready-to-use equipment.
- Assist with pulling, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
- Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Assist others as needed.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs if necessary.
