About The Position

CTI, Inc. is hiring Class A HAZMAT Drivers for our Nogales, AZ terminal. This position requires drivers to load, transport, and deliver products, including copper concentrate in live-bottom, end dump, or container trailers to various mines and aggregate sites throughout Arizona and New Mexico. Drivers are typically home daily and run local and regional routes. Copper operations are outside in the elements and require a half-face respirator, and any other required PPE to be worn for specific tasks. In addition, having to wear a half-face respirator, also requires that you are clean-shaven daily. We operate 24/7/365. Work schedules vary, depending on business needs. Load assignments are given based on hours of service available. Dedicated tractors are assigned, trailers are shared and slip-seating is expected.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • HAZMAT endorsement is required
  • Minimum 23 Years of age
  • 1-year experience operating a combination vehicle (less experience may be considered with an extended training period)
  • Valid DOT Physical
  • No more than 2 moving violations within the previous 3 years
  • No major violations within the previous 5 years
  • Successful respirator physical, and respirator fit test
  • Ability to pass a satisfactory road test
  • Ability to pass a controlled substance test for pre-employment purpose
  • Authorized access to mine site properties
  • Must be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance policy
  • Understand and comply with organizational policies and procedures and all applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations
  • Must be available for work when hours are available, according to FMCSA’s hours of service regulations
  • Ability to work varying hours and schedules; occasionally staying overnight with short notice
  • Clean-shaven daily (required for respirator use)
  • Ability to crawl on hands and knees to open and close bottom hatches on the underside of the trailer
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull, push and/or move up to 70 pounds
  • Requires constant climbing of stairs and/or ladders, working at elevations of 14 feet above the ground
  • The ability to sit, drive, shift gears and stay awake for long periods of time
  • Conduct tasks while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Wear a face respirator and additional PPE when required while performing tasks
  • Wear other configurations of PPE are required at all times while on mine and/or customer property

Nice To Haves

  • Tank and double/triple endorsements are preferred
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Load, transport, and deliver products, including copper concentrate in live-bottom, end dump, or container trailers to various mines and aggregate sites throughout Arizona and New Mexico.
  • Operate a combination vehicle in compliance with FMCSA.
  • Perform tasks in rapid succession, handle stressful situations, make quick decisions, and react.
  • Crawl on hands and knees to open and close bottom hatches on the underside of the trailer.
  • Conduct tasks while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Wear a face respirator and additional PPE when required while performing tasks.
  • Wear other configurations of PPE at all times while on mine and/or customer property.
  • Operate a manual transmission (preferred).
