About The Position

The CDL Driver operates an auto side-load commercial vehicle on allocated routes that include roads, residential neighborhoods, and alleys. The driver completes pre- and post-operation vehicle checks, monitors vehicle readiness, operates controls and joystick equipment safely, and completes required paperwork and reports. The role requires courteous communication with coworkers, dispatchers, and customers, timely service, and adherence to safety procedures and departmental productivity standards. The position is subject to the company’s substance-abuse testing requirements, including onboarding and random testing.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Class B commercial driver’s license.
Ability to lift or carry heavy objects as necessary.
Meet all qualifications defined under Department of Transportation regulations.
Clearinghouse profile required.
Must undergo substance-abuse testing during initial onboarding and random testing during continued employment.

Garbage or recycling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Complete pre- and post-operation commercial vehicle checks, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety devices, gauges, and other components.
Safely operate commercial vehicles on assigned routes, including roads, residential neighborhoods, and alleys.
Operate controls and joystick equipment manually and/or automatically in accordance with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
Communicate courteously with coworkers, dispatchers, and customers to support timely and professional service.
Monitor vehicle status to maintain operational readiness and reduce downtime.
Complete paperwork and reports accurately.
Meet departmental productivity standards to ensure clients are serviced promptly and effectively.
Follow and enforce safety regulations and procedures.
