About The Position

Headstart Hatching is seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Driver to join the team. The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting agricultural products including day-old poults, egg delivery, and feed in a timely and safe manner. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service, and driving skills.

Requirements

  • Fully licensed to drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required with proper endorsements.
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Must pass background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug test and PSP background check.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission (preferred).
  • Experience with live animals, egg handling, or feed transport preferred.
  • Communication skills to effectively work with a variety of people, supervisors, employees and departments
  • Exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Problem solving skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • General skills using MS products (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a basic understanding of computer hardware

Responsibilities

  • Transporting day old poults & eggs.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading trucks
  • Upholding consistent cleanliness, animal welfare standards and bio-security policies.
  • Carrying out all directives in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in truck, flatbed to prevent damage/injury.
  • Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery.
  • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents or delays promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers and team members
  • Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in accordance with the weather/road conditions.
  • Comply with DOT regulations.
  • Make safety a priority at all times
