About The Position

Tyson Foods is actively hiring CDL Drivers and encourages U.S. military veterans to apply. Military experience, particularly in driving heavy equipment, diesel trucks, tractor trailers, fuel vehicles, or tactical vehicles, can translate directly into this role. The role involves driving and operating a tractor-trailer combination, monitoring refrigerated trailer temperatures, and ensuring all required shipping documentation is available. Drivers must maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver logs and mileage records, and operate safely in accordance with company policies and Federal, State, and local regulations. Drivers represent Tyson Foods professionally when interacting with customers and the public. Opportunities may include Local, Regional, and Over-the-Road driving, with potential for Yard Driver roles to gain experience. Tyson Foods maintains a fleet of well-maintained trucks, no more than four years old, equipped with APUs, inverters, and refrigerators. Trucks have automatic transmissions and are governed at the posted speed limit up to 70 mph. The work environment includes highways, customer locations, distribution centers, terminals, truck yards, and loading dock areas. Drivers may experience extended periods of driving, sitting, backing, coupling/uncoupling, inspecting equipment, and entering/exiting the tractor. Work may involve refrigerated trailers, moving equipment, shipping areas, and varying weather and road conditions. Essential skills include safe and defensive driving, trip planning, communication, accurate documentation, and compliance with DOT and company requirements.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL-A license in good standing in state of residence

  • Air Force: 2T1X1 Vehicle Operations, 2F0X1 Fuels, 3E2X1 Pavements and Construction Equipment
  • Navy: EO Equipment Operator, CM Construction Mechanic, LS Logistics Specialist with documented transportation or vehicle operation experience
  • Marine Corps: 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator, 3521 Automotive Maintenance Technician, 1391 Bulk Fuel Specialist with documented heavy vehicle or fuel transport experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate a tractor trailer combination while monitoring the temperature of a refrigerated trailer
  • Ensure all required shipping documentation, including manifests, security seal sheets, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, and related paperwork, is available for inspection and accompanies each shipment when delivered
  • Maintain records for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law and company policy
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures while complying with Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
  • Represent Tyson Foods safely and professionally when interacting with customers and the public
  • Support transportation operations through Local, Regional, and Over-the-Road driving opportunities, depending on business needs and candidate qualifications
  • Consider Yard Driver opportunities when available to gain additional experience and build toward future CDL driving roles
  • Complete vehicle inspections, trip documentation, safety checks, dispatch paperwork, load securement, or regulated transportation activities
