About The Position
This role involves driving a commercial vehicle, ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining accurate logs, and performing vehicle inspections. The driver will also operate a forklift for loading and unloading, and ensure all loads are properly secured and documented.
Requirements
- Five (5) years previous driving experience
- Strong knowledge of safety and DOT regulations
- Familiar with traffic laws and rules regarding rest and maximum miles
- Possess a clean driving record and licenses
- Agree to annual driving records checks
- Physically fit and willing to submit to medical exam every two years
- Hand-eye coordination to coordinate hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time
- Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations (forced whisper at 5 feet, at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision, ability to distinguish the color of traffic lights)
Responsibilities
- Keep all DOT daily logs and fuel records accurate and current using ELD
- Make sure all deliveries are on time and receipts are signed
- Inspect tractor and trailer & keep swept out
- Responsible for inspecting loads for quality as being unloaded
- Ensure all loads are strapped and properly secured
- Operates fork trucks to levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials
- Ensures all units are recorded on proper paperwork
- Fills out pre-inspection forms
- Inspects loads for damage
