Requirements
Truck drivers require five (5) years previous driving experience and other skills, including strong knowledge of safety and DOT regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding rest, maximum miles driver, etc.
Possess a clean driving record and licenses.
Agree to annual driving records checks.
Physically fit and willing to submit to medical exam every two years.
Hand-eye coordination to coordinate hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time
Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations which mandates drivers are required to hear a forced whisper at 5 feet, have at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision and the ability to distinguish the color of traffic lights.
Responsibilities
Keep all DOT daily logs and fuel records accurate and current using ELD
Make sure all deliveries are on time and receipts are signed.
Inspect tractor and trailer & keep swept out.
Responsible for inspecting loads for quality as being unloaded.
Ensure all loads are strapped and properly secured
Operates fork trucks to levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials
Ensures all units are recorded on proper paperwork.
