About The Position

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws. This role involves complying with driver responsibilities as outlined in the company DAART program and DOT regulations, maintaining the vehicle according to Elkhart Transportation management policy, and operating the vehicle safely and efficiently. The driver will support on-time delivery by transporting loads by established route to the proper destination as efficiently as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Responsibilities also include inspecting trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and correct load before leaving the facility, verifying product count while the truck is being loaded, obtaining correct acknowledgments or signatures for bills of lading, and returning completed documentation to the Transportation Manager. The role also requires compliance with performance measures, and duties may vary depending on location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • CDL A License
  • Prior experience driving in large vehicles, such as box truck or similar
  • Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices
  • Strong written and oral communication.

  • Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Support on time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and it is the correct load before leaving facility.
  • Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
  • Obtain correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary signatures and date.
  • Return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
  • Comply with performance measures.
