About The Position

Lone Star Materials, a subsidiary of Lone Star Paving, operates in the Central Texas region, specializing in heavy highway and civil projects. We are a family-oriented organization committed to the safety and health of our employees. The CDL Truck Driver will collaborate with the Trucking Manager to schedule the transportation of equipment and materials to various job sites. The ideal candidate is experienced with paving operations, prioritizes safety, is dependable and reliable, can work independently, and holds a valid Class A or B CDL license.

Requirements

  • CDL (Texas Class A or Class B CDL Driver's License) with clean record required.
  • Must meet DOT employment requirements.
  • All potential candidates must submit to and have a clear record through the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Texas area and roadways.
  • Understands the complexities of the trucking and asphalt industries.
  • High School Diploma or GED but not required.
  • Knowledge of how the vehicles operate.
  • Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Transport equipment and/or materials to various job locations.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance, record, and inspection on vehicles, including fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, and checking/adding fluids.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Complete trip tickets and paperwork.
  • Utilize phone and apps to track start and end times and travel.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and fitting company standards.
  • Carry out daily preventative maintenance, records, and inspection on vehicles to include fueling, cleaning, tire/light inspection, checking and adding fluids as needed.
  • Perform and log pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
