About The Position

The CDL Driver's primary responsibility is to transport materials and equipment to various job sites in a safe and timely manner. The driver is responsible for adhering to all state, federal, and DOT regulations and will obtain daily assignments from the Company’s dispatcher. CDL A Drivers operate a tractor trailer and CDL B drivers operate a straight truck. This job is considered safety sensitive.

Requirements

  • Be well-versed in the various regulatory requirements of FMCSA and DOT
  • Read and understand instruments on heavy trucking equipment
  • Must be flexible to constantly changing conditions--both as they relate to work schedule, and project site conditions
  • Must possess a good attitude and be able to operate in team atmosphere--assisting foremen and co-workers in performance of duties
  • Class A CDL license
  • Minimum age of 23 with at least 2 years of verifiable driving experience and a clean criminal and driving record
  • Must pass a documented, R-V competency road test
  • Normal work requires frequent or continuous lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing or similar body and limb movement
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment while on all job sites
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Receive work-related assignments from the Company dispatcher and execute these assignments in a safe and timely manner
  • Maintain work records, logs, and timesheets
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections and explain the reasoning behind the inspections
  • Responsible for routine fueling, lubricating, and servicing of their vehicle
  • Convey loads to their destination in a safe and timely manner
  • Inspect equipment used for moving and securing equipment, such as cables, chains, binders, and straps
  • Assist with loading and unloading of equipment and materials while coordinating other workers helping to load and unload
  • Read and understand instruments on heavy trucking equipment
  • Operate equipment used for moving, loading, and unloading material
  • Unload materials and equipment to proper locations on jobsite or in the yard
  • Work safely, assist in ensuring safe working conditions exist and report unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • When not driving, will be directed by Shop Foreman on tasks to be completed around shop and yard
