About The Position

The CDL Driver shall operate in the functions of transporting material in accordance with DOT regulations as well as plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Requirements

  • Must have a class A CDL.
  • 1 year minimum experience.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery.
  • Knowledge of the DOT requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
  • Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
  • The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary.
  • Operate trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products.
  • Inspect condition of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or coolant, or performing minor repairs.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Secure cargo for transport using adequate dunnage and strapping.
  • Operating vehicles, mechanized devices or equipment - running, maneuvering, navigating or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment.
  • Employee must report to Yard Supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
