About The Position

The CDL Driver Trainer is responsible for providing classroom and behind-the-wheel training for new operators and trainees. This role involves conducting on-board evaluations, in-service training, and retraining as directed. The trainer will also perform ride checks, road observations, and complete all necessary documentation. They will evaluate new operator driving skills, provide feedback, assess competence, and ensure operators are fully trained before entering revenue service. Additionally, the CDL Driver Trainer will serve as a role model and mentor, identify retraining needs, and report safe and unsafe acts or conditions to management. They will also provide feedback to various management staff regarding training needs and assist the training department in identifying additional or refresher training requirements.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience as a CDL Bus Operator
Must have a minimum of one (1) year of safety/training experience
Must have and maintain qualifications to operate all equipment utilized within the location
Must have and maintain all required licenses and certifications
Must currently hold a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger & Airbrake endorsements
Must hold Keolis Behind-the-Wheel Trainer Certification or acquire during the first 60 days
Intermediate knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Suite
CPR, AED and First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company)
Excellent planning and leadership abilities

Ability to make decisions, manage change, motivate, delegate, and manage time

Responsibilities

Provides classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training for new operators and trainees
Conducts on-board evaluations and in service training to operators according to schedule and/or need
Provides behind-the-wheel retraining as directed
Performs ride checks and road observations as requested
Completes documentation forms in accordance with Keolis, State, Federal and local
Evaluates new operator driving skills using appropriate checklists and evaluation forms
Provides appropriate feedback to new operators
Assesses the competence of new operators
Ensures operators are fully trained prior to being released into revenue service
Serves as role model and mentor to new operators
Identifies retraining needs
Recognizes and reports safe and unsafe acts / conditions to Management
Provides feedback to Safety Manager, GM, Operations Manager and other appropriate staff regarding training needs
Assists training department in identifying additional or refresher training needs based on current trends within the employee base
Other duties as assigned
