About The Position

The Class A CDL Driver (Mobile Market Program) plays a pivotal role in ensuring product is transported in a safe and timely manner. Drivers are expected to provide exceptional customer service to vendors, team members, our agency partners as well as the general public. Our drivers are the face of Roadrunner Food Bank. This position is Grant Funded under HB-1 funding through June 30, 2027. The continuation of the position after June 30, 2027, is dependent on the securing of additional funding. Routes can be expected in central and Northern New Mexico, with occasional assignments to other parts of the state as needed.

Requirements

  • Current and valid CDL “Class A” Driver License, a safe driving record, current DOT Medical Certification and for insurance purposes must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to be insured under the RRFB insurance carrier plan
  • Completion of Servsafe training
  • Ability to think strategically and to resolve problems

  • Ability to learn new software programs and work within structure
  • Self-starter and team player with the ability to work independently and effectively

  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid commercial driver’s license, continuous positive MVRs (Motor Vehicle Reports), continuous negative random drug test panels (urinalysis), and maintenance of DOT medical certification are required to drive RRFB commercial vehicles
  • Legally Authorized to work within the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Prior food handling experience and/or safety training
  • Prior experience in food banking a plus, with an emphasis on transportation and operations
  • Experience in general warehouse equipment including operation of forklift and electric pallet jack
  • Knowledge of food safety and proper food storage and handling techniques

Responsibilities

  • Delivers needed food to organizations, schools, and other partners who help hungry people primarily in the central and norther region of the state of New Mexico, with occasional assignments to other parts of the state
  • Occasional pickups of food products from New Mexico-based food sources, with occasional pickups elsewhere, including locations in other states
  • Transports fresh produce and other food products to Mobile Market sites and other delivery sites as assigned
  • Position responsibilities include the cross-docking of loads, the unloading of trailers at distribution sites, and distribution support and leadership at Mobile Market sites
  • Maintains DOT mandated paperwork using an electronic logging device (ELD) and the management of paperwork associated with Mobile Market site distributions
  • Reads and understands schedules, customer orders, work orders, and shipping orders and Bills-of Lading to determine appointments and inventory to be moved, picked up, or distributed
  • Ensures perishable goods are transported at the proper refrigerated temperature
  • Ensures that all stock and inventory items are maintained in compliance with Food Bank guidelines and all applicable local, state, or federal laws or regulations
  • Observes all local, state, and federal regulations regarding vehicle transport and Department of Transportation rules
  • Completes forms, reports, and logs as required
  • Provides excellent customer service to partner agencies, donors, and the public
  • Drives forklifts and operates other pallet moving equipment (including electric pallet jacks and truck liftgates) safely and as assigned
  • Able to work independently
  • Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor
  • Is consistently at work and on time

  • Submits credit card receipts in a timely and accurate manner
