About The Position

This position involves driving a commercial vehicle to deliver goods to customers, both locally and for longer hauls. When not driving, the employee will work at the Crowley plant or other locations such as Lafayette, performing various duties. The role requires maintaining a clean driving record, adhering to traffic laws, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. The driver will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance, record-keeping, and communication with supervisors and maintenance personnel. Flexibility in working hours, including potential overtime, weekends, and nights, is expected. The job also includes warehouse work and other plant duties when driving is not required.

Requirements

• Valid CDL or commercial driver license.
• Must pass a DOT background and physical.
• Clean MVR.
• Must pass drug and alcohol test.
• Must have clean driving record.
• Must provide current MVR.
• High school diploma.
• Three years of experience working as a CDL driver with no legal or safety incidents on record.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of professional truck driving educational program.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Drive long and short haul distances to deliver goods to customers.
• Load and unload cargo.
• Record cargo deliveries.
• Refuel and clean vehicle.
• Report road incidents to the plant manager.
• Follow traffic laws.
• Inspect trucks and record issues.
• Follow accident procedures.
• Keep an activity log and log hours.
• Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
• Work with supervisor to keep maintenance up to date.
• Plan routes using GPS system.
• Get goods to the client on time.
• Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
• Keep commercial driver license up to date.
• Must provide back haul information for each load.
• Check in with supervisor on a daily basis.
• Work in warehouse when there are no loads to drive or other duties at plant.
• May be required to work in other departments when not driving.
