About The Position

The Dispatcher/Driver utilizes trucks, drivers and product to ensure the timely, complete and accurate delivery of product. This role involves monitoring drivers and coordinating trucks for efficient pickup and delivery, scheduling loads according to priority and available equipment, and monitoring and scheduling company sanitation employees. The position also requires working with the garage on prioritizing repairs, maintaining excellent communication between all departments, receiving incoming calls from farms & drivers, handling issues accordingly, and logging all issues that pertain to transportation and production. Additionally, the role involves maintaining department records such as DVIR’s, On-time tracking and Departure schedules, monitoring Samsura for on-time tracking and departure, and working closely with the transportation supervisor to dispatch and assign loads. The CDL Driver/Dispatcher will also drive a CDL class A commercial vehicle and haul loads as needed, ensuring compliance with all Smithfield Hog Production policies and procedures, including environmental and safety policies. This role may also assist with special projects as assigned and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
  • CDL class A license and 1 year driving experience required.
  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Software.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Day, night and weekend work required.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dispatch experience is preferred.
  • For internal candidates with 4+ years of experience with the company, the Company has the discretion to waive educational requirements.
