About The Position
Goldsboro Builders Supply is seeking a safety-focused, customer-oriented CDL Driver to join their team. This position plays a critical role in delivering lumber, building materials, doors, windows, and related products to residential and commercial job sites across eastern North Carolina in their Morehead City Builders Supply location. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service skills, and experience operating tractor-trailers and truck-mounted forklifts in construction and job-site environments.
Requirements
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Experience operating tractor-trailer combinations.
- Ability to safely navigate construction sites and customer delivery locations.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Basic math skills and ability to verify quantities and measurements.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience operating a truck-mounted forklift (Moffett).
- Previous experience in the lumber, building materials, construction supply, or related industry.
- Forklift certification or experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers and truck-mounted forklifts, to deliver building materials to customer locations.
- Load, unload, and secure materials to prevent damage during transport.
- Inspect loads before departure and verify product accuracy upon delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service and serve as the face of Goldsboro Builders Supply during deliveries.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding delivery details, questions, and concerns.
- Assist in planning and executing efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and fuel efficiency.
- Complete required delivery documentation, driver logs, inspection reports, and other transportation records accurately and timely.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
- Follow all DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with yard, warehouse, and operations personnel to ensure efficient delivery execution.
- Support other operational duties as assigned.
