About The Position

Merchants Distributors, LLC (MDI) has openings for Tractor-Trailer Drivers at our Distribution Center in Hickory, NC. Drivers are responsible for ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers, reviewing orders prior to delivery, assisting with the unloading of trucks and providing exceptional customer service to our clients. Deliveries cover PA, OH, MD, KY, WV, VA, TN, NC, SC, GA, FL. Candidates must live within one hour commute of Merchants Distributors (MDI).

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age with an active CDL class A
• Must have a clean MVR with no more than 2 tickets and no at fault DOT accidents in the previous 3 years
• 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience pulling 45-53 ft. trailers or have graduated from an accredited Class A CDL truck driving school
• Must pass all necessary testing for employment (MVR, criminal, drug, dot physical, job simulation test)
• Must have basic computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interact well with supervision and co-workers
• A self-starter with good organizational skills
• Maintain a professional appearance
• Must be able to complete a proper pre trip inspection and pass an onsite backing test

Responsibilities

• Ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers
• Reviewing orders prior to delivery
• Assisting with the unloading of trucks
• Providing exceptional customer service to our clients
• Safely assist in unloading pallets using a pallet jack (manual and electric)
• Handle cases up to 100 lbs.
• Complete a proper pre trip inspection
