About The Position

A family-owned lumberyard is hiring a CDL Delivery Driver to transport lumber and other building materials safely, efficiently, and on time while preventing damage. The driver must understand lumber and building materials and follow company processes for deliveries and lumberyard operations. The role includes preparing loads, operating a forklift and other heavy equipment, coordinating deliveries, maintaining delivery and inventory paperwork, inspecting trucks and equipment, and providing customer service. Drivers also transport inventory between stores and help keep the lumberyard and storage buildings clean and organized. This is a full-time role with weekday hours of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and rotating Saturday hours of 7:00 a.m. to noon. Hours may vary by location or season. Limited overtime may be required based on business needs. The position involves working in all weather conditions and lifting up to 100 pounds.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
Valid Class B or higher CDL license.
Must possess or be willing to obtain a DOT Medical Certification Card; interstate self-certification is preferred.
Clean driving record and ability to deliver materials without damaging products or equipment.
Ability to operate a forklift and other heavy equipment, including a boom and ladder.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of lumber and building materials.
Ability to follow company processes and procedures.
Ability to maintain a culture of safety.
Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for the duration of each shift.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Build loads accurately and prepare materials for delivery in a timely manner.
Operate a forklift safely in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
Work with the team to schedule customer deliveries.
Keep the lumberyard and storage buildings clean and organized.
Complete paperwork for deliveries, incoming inventory, and inter-yard transfers.
Provide exceptional customer service and address customer concerns or issues.
Build relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
Collaborate with other departments to support smooth operations.
Perform other tasks assigned by the leadership team.
Transport products and inventory between stores safely, efficiently, and on time.
Secure loads properly for transportation.
Follow applicable road laws and rules.
Keep the CDL license and DOT Medical Certification Card current and in good standing.
Complete required daily equipment inspections in accordance with company safety guidelines.
Complete daily truck inspections and logs.
